Rev. Denny and Theresa Lumos would like to share the news of a new grandson, Blake Dennis James Lumos, born at 12:35 PM today to James and Jodi Lumos of Cape Girardeau. Blake arrived about a month early weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz. and is doing well under the watchful eyes of the hospital doctors and nurses. Blake joins a 10 month old brother, Eli. Denny the SEMO Campus Minister in our district.

Scott and Michele Moon would like to share their news of a new grand-daughter, Alyssa Grace, born December 18 at Misawa Air Base, Japan to Erin and Rich Bullock. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 14 oz., born just in time to really celebrate Christmas! Scott is pastor of Grace UMC in Cape Girardeau. Scott and Michele traveled to Japan to see their new granddaughter, and while there, baptized Alyssa Grace at the Misawa AFB Chapel (Jan. 30). The baptismal gown was made by Alyssa's great-grandmother, (Michele Moon's mother, Rita Lariviere), and has been worn by all of Michele and Scott's children.

Jerry & Donna Willer want to share the joy of the birth of their third grandchild, Joshua Cole Juenger. His parents are Erin and Rebecca Juenger. Joshua was born today, weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz., and is 19 inches long. Jerry is the pastor of the Perryville/York Chapel charge in our district.

Please be in prayer for Toni Dee, who will serve our Kewanee UMC as of July 1. Toni will be undergoing a series of medical tests, preparing her for knee-replacement surgery July 6th.

Please remember Rev. Barron & Kim Willer in your prayers in the loss of Kim's grandmother, Dorothy Mahar, May 26. Barron is pastor of the Campbell/Holcomb Charge in the Southeast District.

Cindy Breon, our District Superintendent's wife, has requested prayer for her sister Carol Grizzell. Carol has had a successful surgery last week to remove a very large thyroid. She has had a severe headache for the last 3 days and was admitted back into the hospital last evening. At this point she is uncertain of the outcome and is very stressed. Please pray for a healing peace for Carol and the rest of her family. Update 05/28/05: Cindy thanks all for the prayers for her sister, Carol. She has stabilized and is recovering. Determined she had a slight stroke in her caroltid artery, but is greatly improved and is going home today (5/28). The thinner has worked. Her head pain is almost gone.

Please remember Cathy Lovins in your prayers. She is the wife of Andrew Lovins (Senath/Coldwater Chapel pastor). She is undergoing some testing to determine the cause of pain, chronic fatigue, and kidney stones. Update 05/20/05: Some tests came back and so far there is nothing serious. Some tests still pending.

Please remember Marie Statler in prayer. Marie went in Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau Saturday morning. Marie is the 97 year-old mother of Rev. Jerry Statler, retired pastor in the Southeast District, and grandmother of Rev. Mark Statler, and Rev. Tom Statler (both Elders in the MO Conference). Update 3/11/05: Marie left the hospital this morning to go back to the nursing home. She still has blood clots, but is alert and able to do for herself.

Please remember in your prayers Rev. Almarie Reynolds, who is having a total knee replacement surgery on February 7 at Randolph County Memorial Center Hospital in Pocohontas, MO. Almarie will be out of the pulpit for 6 weeks following surgery and covets your prayers for a rapid recovery. Almarie is serving Neelyville & Harviell UMCs in her retirement.

Please remember Sally Pryor in your prayers. Sally is the sister of Ruth Edwards, a pastor on leave in the Southeast District. Sally is having open heart surgery today in Cleveland after discovering last Friday evening that she had an aneurysm in her aorta. Messages of caring may be sent through Ruth Edwards. Update: Sally came out of surgery and is in recovery. She had to have an aorta-bypass and a valve replacement which is more than the doctors anticipated, but she did well.

Please remember Robbie Usher and family in prayer. Robbie is the son of Dan & Vicki Usher, Associate Pastor at New McKendree UMC in Jackson. Robbie was involved in a car accident Saturday resulting in emergency surgery to repair a broken right femur. Robbie is now home and will be recuperating for approximately 6 weeks.

Please remember in prayer Rayla & Jim Hogue in the loss of Rayla's brother-in-law, John Snavely, who was killed in a car accident in Springfield, MO yesterday. John was a retired pastor on staff at James River Assembly in Springfield. Please remember the Snavely family in your prayers at this time of loss, especially wife, Lillian (Rayla's half-sister).

Also remember our VIM Team 1 leaving today for Pensacola, Florida to assist Myrtle Grove UMC with hurricane cleanup. Please remember folks living in Cooter, Missouri in your prayers. A tornado hit just outside of town last night killing three persons, destroying two homes, and injuring many other persons. Members of the community are banding together to help the families in need.

Please keep Rev. Jose Luis Zamora, our Hispanic Ministries pastor, and family in your prayers. Jose's mother suffered a heart attack and is in critical condition. She lives in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Also, pray for safe travels for Jose and family as they go to Mexico to be with her.

We have had a HUGE LOSS in the Southeast District! One of our active pastor's wives, Nona Rister, passed away yesterday. Nona is the wife of Fred Rister who serves the Marquand Circuit. Details are still forthcoming, and will be shared as we receive them. We do know that Fred was at a meeting in Columbia and was unable to reach his wife by phone, so he called a neighbor to go to the house to check on her. He was later notified that she had passed away. Please keep Fred and their family in your prayers in this tragic loss.

She will be in the hospital for 3-4 days. Please pray for Donna's healing and speedy recovery! 9/22 Update: Donna is home and is doing as well as can be expected. Her BP is running a little high, but the Dr. seems to think it will come down when the pain level comes down. She is getting around in the house, but isn't to do anything else for some time. Donna Hargraves' father, Silas Reed, is in Arkansas Methodist Hospital undergoing testing on his heart. Donna is the wife of Michael Hargraves, pastor at Steele/Cooter charge in the Southeast District. Update 8/17: Mike and Donna Hargraves would like to thank you so much for all of your prayers, cards, support, and encouragement during Donna's dad's time in the hospital and his tests.  He got to come home last Thursday, and will not have to have a pacemaker.

4/12/2004 - Please remember in prayer Bill Ogden. Bill went back into Three Rivers hospital in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday with fluid buildup around his heart from Congestive Heart Failure. Updates: 4/10 - Bill was able to come home & is receiving treatments at home twice per week. 4/22 - Bill was admitted back into the hospital with a heart attack.

Khennedy Alise was born to Byron & RaShonda Jordan. Byron is the pastor of the Smith Chapel UMC in Sikeston. Khennedy weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 inches long.

Please remember Betty Butler (spouse of Rev. Leland Butler, retired clergy) in the loss of two sisters in the last two weeks. Her sister Mary Webber of Sikeston, died on March 29,
and her sister, Gladys Smith of Portageville died on April 12. Update: Betty lost a third member of her family, a brother-in-law, the next week. Keep Betty in your prayers in this time of great loss.

Emily Samantha was born to Anthony & Sarah Stewart. Anthony is the pastor for Old Union UMC and Scopus UMC. Emily weighed 10 lbs. 12 oz. and was 22.75 inches long.

Please keep Bev Rhodes in your prayers. Bev, a secretary for the Southeast District office, had heart surgery this morning to replace a valve and perform other corrective procedures. She will be recovering the the hospital for 4-6 days, then at home for 4-6 weeks. Please remember Bev & Brad Rhodes and their family during this time. Updates: 4/7-Bev was dismissed from the hospital to home. 4/9-Bev decided she "had" to go meet the new preacher at church much to the surprise of all present. 4/10-Bev is trying to behave herself and stay home to recuperate as she is supposed to!

Also, keep Jim Pemberton in your prayers. Jim is also having surgery today to repair a cervical disk which has been pinching nerves and causing him severe headaches. Jim is a Lay Missioner to Cottonwood Point UMC.

Also, remember Chris Wheeler in your prayers. Chris is the Youth & Family Minister at Kennett: First UMC and she will be having surgery on Monday and is expected to be recovering for 3-4 weeks.

Eli Houston Eugene Lumos was born to James & Jodi Lumos of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Eli weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 19 inches long. James Lumos is the son of Rev. Denny & Theresa Lumos in our district. Denny is the director of the Southeast Wesley Foundation at Southeast Missouri State University.

Linda Cooney's father, Jack Ashbaugh, is hospitalized in Springfield. He had some surgery and now has had a heart attack during his hospitalization.  He is not doing too well at this time. Please keep him in your prayers. Linda is the wife of Jonathan Cooney, Associate pastor at Sikeston: First UMC.
