| Return to Top of Page | Sept. 2004 | September 28, 2004 We have had a HUGE LOSS in the Southeast District! One of our active pastor's wives, Nona Rister, passed away yesterday. Nona is the wife of Fred Rister who serves the Marquand Circuit. Details are still forthcoming, and will be shared as we receive them. We do know that Fred was at a meeting in Columbia and was unable to reach his wife by phone, so he called a neighbor to go to the house to check on her. He was later notified that she had passed away. Please keep Fred and their family in your prayers in this tragic loss. |

She will be in the hospital for 3-4 days. Please pray for Donna's healing and speedy recovery! 9/22 Update: Donna is home and is doing as well as can be expected. Her BP is running a little high, but the Dr. seems to think it will come down when the pain level comes down. She is getting around in the house, but isn't to do anything else for some time. Update 8/17: Mike and Donna Hargraves would like to thank you so much for all of your prayers, cards, support, and encouragement during Donna's dad's time in the hospital and his tests. He got to come home last Thursday, and will not have to have a pacemaker. |

Bill went back into Three Rivers hospital in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday with fluid buildup around his heart from Congestive Heart Failure. Updates: 4/10 - Bill was able to come home & is receiving treatments at home twice per week. 4/22 - Bill was admitted back into the hospital with a heart attack. |

Her sister Mary Webber of Sikeston, died on March 29, and her sister, Gladys Smith of Portageville died on April 12. Update: Betty lost a third member of her family, a brother-in-law, the next week. April 2, 2004 Please keep Bev Rhodes in your prayers. Bev, a secretary for the Southeast District office, had heart surgery this morning to replace a valve and perform other corrective procedures. She will be recovering the the hospital for 4-6 days, then at home for 4-6 weeks. Please remember Bev & Brad Rhodes and their family during this time. Updates: 4/7-Bev was dismissed from the hospital to home. 4/9-Bev decided she "had" to go meet the new preacher at church much to the surprise of all present. 4/10-Bev is trying to behave herself and stay home to recuperate as she is supposed to! Also, keep Jim Pemberton in your prayers. Jim is also having surgery today to repair a cervical disk which has been pinching nerves and causing him severe headaches. Jim is a Lay Missioner to Cottonwood Point UMC. Also, remember Chris Wheeler in your prayers. Chris is the Youth & Family Minister at Kennett: First UMC and she will be having surgery on Monday and is expected to be recovering for 3-4 weeks. |
